When in Rock Hall or making a stay at Haven Harbour Marina Resorts, stop in and explore our quaint Waterman's Museum nestled conveniently on Rock Hall Avenue between Haven Harbour Marina's Marine Store and the Inn at Haven Harbour's Manor House.

The concept for the Waterman's Museum began in 1990 when a committee of Rock Hall community members and Haven Harbour Marina staff and ownership decided that area watermen were in need of their own unique center for recorded history.

Today, the museum includes exhibits on oystering, crabbing and fishing. A reproduction of a shanty house is also on display, along with local carvings and of course boats.

Enter the Gallery and view dozens of historical photographs depicting working life on the Chesapeake Bay over the decades. Many family albums were opened and copies generously made for featuring. Plans of a bugeye and skipjack from the 1930s as well as articles of local interest are on hand.

Plan a visit to the Rock Hall Waterman's Museum. You will learn of how things were done in the past and how some trades on the Chesapeake Bay continue to present day. You might even see some of your friends or relatives featured by photograph or in print.

Open seven days a week during the summer, admission to the museum is free, although visitors can make a donation to the Maryland Waterman's Association. Contact us at (410) 778-6697 for off-season hours. To learn more, visit havenharbour.com/museum.
